My most recent experience with Ralph Schugar was last week, when we buried my mother, Faye. She had purchased a pre-need plan many years ago, and Schugar had previously handled the funerals of other family members including my father and my brother Ron.
From the moment we let them know that she had died, they were kind, helpful, organized, and efficient. They arranged for her body to be picked up from her assisted living in Maryland and transported back to Pittsburgh the next day. They helped us write the obituary and placed it in the local papers.
On the day of the funeral, they made sure the family had everything we needed, including an emotional support dog. At graveside, they coordinated with the Homewood Cemetery staff to make sure we had time to do the mitzvah of shoveling earth to cover Mom’s coffin completely. For shiva, they supplied low chairs, siddurim, kippot, and memorial candles, and picked them up afterwards.
The death of a loved one can only be a trying experience, no matter what, but the Ryave family and Ralph Schugar Funeral Home do their best to make the logistics easy so the family can focus on what is important: grieving and remembering. We are grateful.
